Cambridge ICT Starters
Introduction
The Cambridge ICT Starters (CIS) syllabus is designed by the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE), United Kingdom to introduce students to the key ICT applications they need to use to acquire ICT literacy and to understand the impact of technology on our daily lives. The qualifications provide a framework in which ICT competence can be developed within an environment that is appropriate for the age of the students. At each stage of assessment, students will use ICT to:
• Communicate
• Handle information
• Model
• Measure and control
The International Dimension
Cambridge ICT Starters (CIS) acknowledges the competencies valued in ICT around the world. The syllabus has been mapped against national standards in a few countries, so that skills assessed reflect performance demanded in an international context.
In Malaysia, Danawa Education administers assessment tasks in Bahasa Malaysia, English and Chinese Mandarin.
